Preparatory

More independence. A wider perspective.

Preparatory connects the foundations of Primary with the greater responsibility of Secondary. Over three years, students learn to approach more demanding work with organisation, curiosity and confidence.

UNDERSTANDING THE STAGE

A bridge to deeper understanding.

This stage creates opportunities to question assumptions, compare information and explain ideas in greater detail. Supporting an answer with evidence is a useful habit across subjects.

Independence grows through practice. Breaking a task into manageable steps, keeping track of deadlines and checking understanding can help students take responsibility for their progress. Knowing when to ask for help is part of that process.

Preparatory 1–3 completes the nine-year basic education pathway. Ask OLS about current stage requirements, assessment arrangements and progression to Secondary.

SCHOOL & HOME

Supporting your child.

Support can gradually move from managing tasks towards helping students manage their own learning.

  1. Agree a short weekly check-in about deadlines, workload and what support is needed.
  2. Discuss responsible use of technology and how to judge information sources.
  3. Encourage your child to prepare clear questions when something is not understood.

Looking ahead to Secondary.

Organisation, self-awareness and a willingness to seek feedback help prepare students for the next chapter. Contact OLS to discuss the transition and applicable requirements.
